Financial Controller

Finance role for a Financial Controller with an Accounts Administrator, Finance Officer or Accounting Assistant skillset. The Financial Controller will be responsible for the full 360 accounts functions of the business.

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller / Small Office Accounts Manager with all round experience of Accounting functions to be responsible for the Company Financial Accountancy function.

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced Financial Controller or someone looking to grow into that role who has experience of SOP, POP, Cash flow, Financial Accounts Prep, Payroll and all the main aspects of Company Accounts. You will be looking for a role that you can shape as your own and manage the Finance function within the Company. The width of the role allows for a lot of job variation and is a key position within the business, reporting directly to the Managing Director. There is the potential to grow the role into more responsibility and become part of the SMT.

The role requires high attention to detail, understanding of financial Accountancy, accuracy and knowledge of UK financial rules and regulations, including VAT and other government submissions as well, as the use of accountancy software and spreadsheets.


Job Title: Financial Controller

Location: Ruddington, Nottingham

Format: Full Time Experienced, Permanent Position. Part Time considered.

Salary: £26,500 to £33,000 (or Prorata if Part time)


Initially Office Based Monday - Friday, 8.45am-5.15pm with some flexibility. Part time considered.

Important:

At least 3 to 4 years of relevant Accountancy experience.

Ideally you will have good experience with Xero or willing to quickly cross-train from a similar system.


Key responsibilities:

Ensure that key aspects of the company’s financial accounting processes are appropriately administered and information is available in a timely fashion.
Manage the accounting ledgers, including:

  • Sales Ledger / Sales Order Processing / Sales Invoices.
  • Debtors Chasing and Payments Management / Posting receipts.
  • Dealing with customer invoice / financial account queries.
  • Purchase Ledger / Purchase Order Processing / Supplier invoices.
  • Managing Supplier payments / Posting payments / Dealing with supplier financial queries.
  • SOP / POP invoice checking.
  • Nominal Ledger / Monthly journals and one off journals.
  • Quarterly and year end management accounts.
  • Financial Reporting
  • Spreadsheets and other Reporting
  • Quarterly VAT and payments.
  • Cash flow forecasts
  • Bank reconciliations, tracking, checking and Cashbook entries
  • Service Time tracking to Contracts and profit analysis.
  • Payroll, P11d's and Pensions
  • Confirmation statements
  • Expenses
  • Petty Cash
  • Maintaining and following the Company systems and record keeping
  • Work with external auditors to ensure robust statutory accounts are produced within the required timescales.
  • Work with auditors and external parties to ensure that core accounting controls are appropriate and consistently implemented.
  • Office Management including Cars, Insurance and misc financial related items.
  • General accounting and administration office duties
  • General Office and Company administration tasks and functions

Skills / Attributes Required:

Essential

Ensure that key aspects of the company’s financial accounting processes are appropriately administered and information is available in a timely fashion.

  • At least 4 - 5 Years of demonstrable experience in a similar roles and functions.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of Quarterly VAT Preparation and Submission.
  • Strong understanding on Financial Accounts Preparation.
  • Able to manage, track and deliver robust financial accuracy.
  • A proven knowledge of finance, numbers and financial management.
  • Good working knowledge of accounting systems and monthly accounts process: – general ledger, purchase ledger, sales ledger, monthly accounts process, balance sheet reconciliations, reporting.
  • Good skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Clear and confident communicator at all levels and abilities.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Strong financial documentation skills.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • Good time management and prioritisation skills.

Qualifications / Certifications Prefferred

  • AAT or other Accounts qualification preferred. Part qualification of recognised qualification accepted.
  • At least 4 - 5 Years of demonstrable experience in a similar roles and functions.
  • Strong commercial experience would be considered in lieu of higher qualifications.
  • Preferred Strong knowledge of Xero.
